Ode to Rewriting

Today I had a good chat with my agent Michelle on rewriting pages 1-50 of Sissy.  We talked about cutting out one of the narrative voices and streamlining the story.  Rewriting is always a bit of a challenge.  I hate it and love it.  I love it because I am totally comfortable starting over again.  As a full-time magazine editor, cutting and rewriting is what I do on a daily basis.  But I hate it because it means forcing myself to sit down and tackle the beast called “New Pages.”

  1. You’re gonna rock this rewrite, I can feel it.

And remember, being asked for a rewrite is a good thing. The alternative is “No, I’d rather not read anymore, thanks.” Been there, didn’t enjoy it.

I'd love to know what you think! Tell me in the comments below.
