Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the best way to reach you?
My email is on my Contact page. People send me message requests on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but email is the best way to ensure I’ll respond.
I’d like to write for a publication. Can I have your editor’s email address?
I write for different publications and I am not comfortable sharing my editorial contacts with people I personally don’t know. I put together a list of my favorite writing resources that should be helpful.
Can I pitch you my product, book, or idea?
The best way to pitch me is to fill out my Pitches For Consideration Google form. I periodically check this list. If your idea works for an upcoming story I’m working on, I will reach out. I get a ton of pitches via email, Twitter, and Instagram, and can’t respond to each message.
Can you please talk to my college club, school class, or my kid about writing?
I try to leave room in my schedule for talking to students because it’s important to me. That being said, please email me and include information about the event, what date, and what you’d like me to speak about. If I can make it work with my schedule, I will let you know.
How did you became a writer?
Before I became a writer, I worked full-time in different jobs, like nonprofits and as a magazine editor. I always wrote on the side for several years until I was able to transition to freelance work. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite resources for classes, books on writing, and writing coaches who have helped me. If you would like to chat, please know that I request a fee for scheduling time with me.
Can I interview you?
Please include INTERVIEW in your subject header and include the outlet, your deadline, and what you’d like to interview me about in your email. I will respond as soon as I can.
